Name: Samuel (Sam)

Personality: 
Samuel appears as rather antisocial and grumpy. It’s true that he would rather keep to himself, but once he knows somebody and he opens up, he can be quite pleasant and kind. However, patience is not his strong suit and he may begin to lose his temper should something irritate him and he’s unable to stop or get away from it (He tries not to show it, however, he isn’t good at hiding his feelings and it will be displayed quite blatantly on his face.), but he does appreciate effort and even if it is something he dislikes he will try to show appreciation. He is polite but aloof to strangers. (i.e. He would hold the door open, but he won’t stop to chat if it wouldn’t be rude not to.) He is protective and would not stand to see any cases of bullying. He would help however he can should a friend need it. He is responsible and can be quite controlling at times due to his feelings of responsibilities.

Biography:   
Samuel grew up in Britain, raised in a happy family. He was a cheery child, curious, and full of laughter. His father however, passed away when he was still little. Not too long after that, his mother remarried to a wealthy man and he found himself with two younger brothers, Denzel and Vinn, several years later. The three brothers got along very well despite the fact that they have different fathers, doing activities together as a family, such as going on outings as well as attending Sunday Mass together. Their mother with an intention of giving the three brothers something to bond about brought each of them a silver crucifix. Samuel wore his around his neck.

However, as they grew older, arguments between their parents grew too, in both frequency and volume. Samuel often tried to ignore the nagging feeling in his mind that some day at this rate, their family will be broken up. He couldn’t do anything about it anyway, so instead of dwelling on it, he decided to spend more time with his brothers. He played with them, cooked for them, and being older, taught his little brothers what he knew about school lessons when they didn’t understand. This all lasted until he turned 18 when his parents decided to file a divorce. Unable to choose between going with his mother who took Vinn with her to France, or his father who took Denzel to America, Samuel decided that he would live on his own.

He made the decision to move to Canada (Prince Edward Island) after that to further his studies. He still wears the crucifix as a reminder to him of when his family was together. He does keep in touch with his brothers via emails etc, but not so much with his parents. He still couldn’t find it in him to forgive them for breaking the family up. While pursuing his degree in English, he also offers his tutoring services at the local library and also as a private tutor in order to earn some money. He convinces himself that he needs the money but his parents would not leave him penniless and had both deposited a substantial amount into his bank account. In fact, he took up teaching because he missed the times when he could still teach his little brothers.

Angelus Bio: 
Volarius was an announcer/narrator back on Angellion. He would be present to announce important events or even narrate games or news to the other Angeluses with his deep, booming voice. Having a flair for the dramatic however, he does tend to get carried away with announcing. He loves his job so much that he would often narrate even silly little things such as how beautiful the weather is. He led a relatively simple and carefree life despite being at the towns more, and had fallen in love with the beautiful Angelus, Gaia during one of his visits to the villages. They spent quite a number of sweet romantic days together with him flying back and forth between his jobs at the towns to her village. That is until Volarius’ habit of announcing almost everything made Gaia decided that they needed a break from each other. It made him sad but being as optimistic as he is, he still held the hope that they would be able to see each other again someday.

However, the attack on Angellion happened before they could get back together and Volarius ended up in the sea on Earth and “OH. GOOD. GRACIOUS. THE. WATER. IS. FULL. OF. SODIUM.” as he had described after taking a breath in, glad to still have his deep and loud voice. It only took him another minute to realize, to his dismay, that flying fish on Earth which he took a false form after, could not really fly. He spent many years swimming the ocean, describing anything and everything he saw to amuse himself (To the horror of some fishermen out at sea).

Encounter: 
Samuel and Volarius met three years ago, a year after Samuel moved to Canada. Samuel was taking a stroll by the beach after buying some mason jars, he had intended to make some lemon and orange curd. At that time Volarius, with the intention of getting close enough to land to find a warrior (after years of procrastination and also, he figured he will never find out where Gaia is in the sea), accidentally washed up on shore. 

Samuel heard cries of help from an extremely deep voice but saw no one on the beach. That was when he stared down and noticed a fish flopping about on the sand. “Help. Help, human! I need. Water. Because. I have no legs!” Setting the jars down, Samuel picked the fish up and stared at it. The Angelus began to speak again. “Yes. Pick me up. And put me back in the water. No! Don’t swing me!” Volarius observed how Samuel’s curious blue eyes were locked onto him now and he changed his mind about being put back into the water. “OH WAIT! DO NOT THROW ME BACK. TAKE ME WITH YOU.” Out of shock by the sudden loudness, he was of course flung back into the water by the man.

Volarius swam as hard as he could towards the beach again, intending to get close enough to this human as possible. He felt it, that he and this human who was clearly not one of those dreadful fishermen would be perfect together! “COME BACK! MAYBE. WE GOT OFF. ON THE WRONG FOOT. FIN! DON’T GO!” Samuel, after minutes of being chased by this very talkative fish all along the beach, and being intrigued enough not to run away from the beach in the first place, finally stopped walking, he squatted down before saying with a slight smile. “Alright, you can come with me.” He filled a mason jar he bought earlier with water and placed Volarius inside, telling him to be quiet. The Angelus agreed and was brought back to Samuel’s home to be faced with many questions which he happily answered. He was amused that this human did not find his story impossible and after he had told Samuel about his mission and also about his undying love for the beautiful being he knew as Gaia, the man had agreed to exchange hearts with him.

Present: 
Their relationship at present could be considered as a strange kind of friendship. Samuel finds Volarius’ constant narrating to be quite irritating, especially if he’s trying to study or work on his assignments or projects. But living alone, he does enjoy the Angelus’ company and they both love good literature or “Earth Literature” as Volarius calls it. However, when pushed to his limit, Samuel would sometimes shake Volarius after losing his temper. Despite this, they have never gotten to the point of hating one another and are usually back to being friends after Samuel calms down. They have never said it out loud but they do care deeply for one another.

→Allows the Samuel to levitate himself or one other item or person within a 20 feet radius. The duration he can use this skill depends on how much stamina he has left and how heavy the item is.

Trivia: 
He can speak most European languages with adequate fluency and very poor Chinese, courtesy of practicing with his little brother.

He enjoys reading, a lot. Especially story books and classic literature.

He is an information junkie and will go to great lengths to research a topic for a student should they ask a question because he hates to give inaccurate facts.

He hopes to publish some stories he writes in his free time some day but he feels that they aren’t good enough for publishing just yet.

He enjoys going for long walks or jogs along the beach.

Is quite adept at cooking but rarely tries out new recipes unless he’s cooking for someone or it’s been requested.

Bought an aquarium with a little windmill inside for Volarius but the Angelus actually prefers using the mason jar because it’s more portable and he wants to go everywhere Sam goes. (He is of course, banned from the washroom.)

Relationships:

Rune – He’s Rune’s private tutor, hired by Rune's dad to teach his son at his home. He goes so often and meets with Rune so much he considers Rune as a close friend and would protect and care for him.
